Clive's Public House Portland Oregon

Clive's Public House 5010 NE Oregon Street - At Rose City Futsal. CLIVE’S PUBLIC HOUSE – HISTORY

Named for Clive Charles, a local soccer legend, who joined the Portland Timbers in 1978 and went on to coach the University of Portland men’s and women’s soccer teams and the U.S. men’s Under-23 National Team. His career highlights included leading the US Men’s U23 National team to its best ever 4th place finish at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. As Head Coach of both the Men’s and Women’s Portland Pilots, Charles’ collegiate teams collectively won 13 conference championships, lost only 44 games, and earned 20 NCAA playoff berths, including 7 Final Four appearances in a combined 31 seasons. In the history of collegiate soccer, Clive Charles is only the second coach to have two teams, in the same year, competing in the NCAA semifinals. On August 29, 2003, the Portland Timbers retired Clive’s #3 jersey – the first and only uniform ever to be retired in the nearly 80-year history of PGE Park now known as Providence Park.
