I grew up playing soccer in socal, moved to PDX for college and started the club soccer program at PSU. Later started to coach at RCF in 2016 and then got the opportunity to go play professional futsal for Perugia Futsal Femminile in Italy, where I played for a year and a half. My first season I was in the top 10 goal scorers in my league. When I returned to PDX I came back to RCF and now coach everyday.

Scoring a game winning goal when my parents came to watch me play in Italy.

What aspect of Rose City Futsal appealed to you when applying OR what have you enjoyed about being an employee at RCF?
RCF staff is one big family and getting to work with like minded people everyday who love the game and want to grow it in the US is a huge bonus to getting to work with kids everyday.

I played 10 years of club soccer for various clubs around Portland. During college I worked with OSU Women’s Soccer for three years and coached at Corvallis Soccer Club for two years.

Fav Futsal/Soccer Memory:
My favorite soccer memory is being at the double post Timbers game against Kansas City in the playoffs in 2015.

Why RCF?:
I really enjoy the sense of community that exists at RCF. Both the employees and people that come into the facility have helped make it an incredible experience here.

Joe’s work at The Washington Post,  Willamette Week and his own company, Spitball Media, prepared him for the many facets of life at Rose City Futsal. Working at RCF allows him to blend his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for sport to meet new RCF challenges Every. Single. Day.  Joe is continually excited for where RCF (and Futsal) are headed.

Kevin Murray, one of three RCF owners and former Managing Director of RCF, loved leading the RCF team, a hard-working group of creative thinkers dedicated to growing the game and making Rose City Futsal THE leader in community futsal development. His background in software development, project management and consulting provide a foundation to support RCF in all areas of growth. Kevin played D3 soccer through college and has been an integral part of soccer growth in Portland as a board member for local outdoor clubs.

Since moving to Portland, I have worked with new and experienced players from 18 months to adult. I have coached outdoor soccer since 2012 through Portland Parks & Rec and North Portland Soccer Club, and I have been a part of the RCF Soccer Stars, Youth Academy, and Adult Clinic programs since 2016. I grew up around baseball and football and eventually ran track and cross country in school, so I came to play, coach, and enjoy soccer much later in life, but I’m glad I have! It would have been difficult not to in Portland, with so much culture and opportunity to participate in the sport, and the futsal classes and league play at RCF are a great way to get involved, develop skill, and grow as a player and now as a coach.

Fav Futsal/Soccer Memory:
Using what can best be described as “the force” to slot a game-winning goal through traffic with 30 seconds to play. At halftime I consciously said to myself, “it looks like you might have to win this game,” and I told myself to be ready. When the moment arrived, I knew it, and I was.

Why RCF?:
The width and breadth of classes, league play, and developmental opportunities, from entry-level to competitive, young children to adult, make RCF a great place to learn and grow in the sport, for players, families, and coaches!
